Nancy Rocha appointed Coordinator of the TeleCounseling Programme for Excessive Gamblers

Montréal, August 27, 2019 — «I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Nancy Rocha as Coordinator of the TeleCounseling Programme for Excessive Gamblers», announced Mrs. Pierrette Gagné, Executive Director of the Information and Referral Centre of Greater Montréal. She will be replacing Mrs. Hélène Hamel, Coordinator of the Drugs: Help and Referral and Gambling: Help and Referral helplines, who has been responsible for the TeleCounseling programme since its implementation in 2012.

«Nancy’s nomination for this position is the logical – and much appreciated — next step to her commitment since day one towards the TeleCounseling Programme for Excessive Gamblers», continued Mrs. Gagné. It should be noted that Mrs. Nancy Rocha has distinguished herself for many years through her professionalism, her non-judgmental attitude and empathy towards gamblers and their loved ones during her time as counsellor and instructor within the TeleCounseling team.

We remind you that the TeleCounseling Programme for Excessive Gamblers is a personalized, telephone support service with a counsellor. It consists of an over the telephone evaluation followed by six telephone appointments centered on these themes: motivation, finances, erroneous beliefs, triggers, replacement activities to gambling and relapse prevention.

Among her new duties, Mrs. Rocha will receive requests to participate in the programme, distribute these requests among the counsellors, follow up on them and respond to specific requests from participants. She will also coordinate training activities for the team of counsellors and participate in promoting the programme to various partners of the Information and Referral Centre of Greater Montréal.
