Finally! The complete 211 service: the telephone and the www.211qc.ca web site that group more than 5000 social and community organizations has been available on the Greater Montréal territory since April 26th, 2018.
What joy! Not only for the Information and Referral Centre of Greater Montréal team who have worked on this project for many years, but also, for Centraide of Greater Montréal, the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal and the Québec Government who have supported and financially backed this innovative social project. However, this service is especially good news for the citizens of the cities of Montréal, the 82 municipalities of the CMM, as well as, the MRC's and the cities located outside of CMM who are 211 members and who now have easy access to the Centre.
211 is a quick way to learn about local, free or low-cost services for people looking for food and material assistance, affordable housing; services for seniors, people with disabilities and services for families, among others. We have already been serving Greater Montréal for over 60 years, but the info-referral service is henceforth accessible to everyone, including social counsellors, from either the community sector or the health and social services network, who, thanks to the website, will be able to guide someone towards resources. Particularly if that person does not know where to turn anymore.
The 211 telephone service is open daily from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm, including holidays.
