The Information and Referral Centre of Greater Montréal periodically publishes various directories: In these days of many changes, the bilingual Directories of the Centre will enable one to find up-to-date information about community services. These are considered indispensable tools which bring the community workers and organizations in the region invaluable information to help the needy. These Directories comprise thousands of pages of detailed and structured descriptions of community services in the Greater Montréal area.
The Centre is editing these five bilingual Directories. The first one is the most comprehensive reference book in the fields of health, social services, welfare, employment and recreation in the Greater Montréal area. The four others list community services in particular areas. They are:
Directory 2016 of Community Services for Homeless People in the Greater Montréal area
This bilingual directory of nearly 700 pages is an essential tool for community counsellors involved with the homeless. It features relevant resources designed to bring them assistance depending on their specific needs. It provides a unique and comprehensive collection of specialized organizations and services involved in this area.
Directory of Social and Community Services of Greater Montréal
This general Directory is is considered an indispensable tool, which allows the community workers and organizations in the region to effectively refer their clients. This essential Directory, known as the «bible of social work», offers many indexes, among which: one by language of service other than French and English, and one by geographical districts.
Directory of Self-help and Support Groups in the Greater Montréal Area
This book completes the Directory of Community Services of Greater Montréal. It is a precious tool for community workers, all those in contact with the public: nurses, doctors, psychologists, social workers, responsible of human resources, etc. enabling them to refer people in need to the services available in the community. This unique Directory offers three indexes and a detailed description of 95 self-help groups (222 in the French section). The English section of this book of nearly 300 pages includes 13 chapters covering the following subjects: addictions, bereavement, caregivers, disabilities, elderly people, family – personal relationships, men, mental health, physical health, sexual abuse, sexuality, violence, women, youth.
Directory of Food Ressources for Low Income People in the Greater Montréal Area
This Directory contains a standardized and detailed description of more than 350 community food resources in the Greater Montréal area. It is a precious tool for community workers, all those in contact with the public: nurses, doctors, psychologists, social workers, responsible of human resources, etc. enabling them to refer people in need to the services available in the community. Information is available on the following services: budget and cooking classes, food assistance, food supplement, food redistribution, Information, referral and social planning. For easier reference, the resources are listed by area and three indexes are available: alphabetical index, acronyms and organizations by language of services.
Directory of Social and Community Services for Seniors, Island of Montréal
This user-friendly Directory gathering more than 500 organizations has been achieved thanks to the financial contribution of the Ministère de la Famille in the framework of the specific Agreement “Adaptation régionale pour l’amélioration des conditions de vie des aînés”. This Directory is available for free for seniors and their caregivers. In addition to presenting social and community services, viewers will be able to discover capsules providing advice, as well as useful and often asked information.
